It’s always a good day in the neighborhood when I get my hands on a new skincare product. Especially if it’s one that I haven’t even heard of. So when my friend Sam Snapchatted me a picture of the Bubble Mask she uses – I was immediately SHOOK to the core. How did I not know about this Bubbling Charcoal Mask from one of my all-time favorite skincare brands? I decided that I needed to get my hands on it as soon as possible. And that’s what I did.
As you may know, Pacifica is one of my favorite brands with it comes to Vegan-Friendly and Cruelty-Free products. (PETA Approved.) However, their skincare care products capture my attention more than their makeup. I love their face washes, hydro mists, paper masks. And now I can officially add another one to the list.
More on Pacifica:
One thing you should know about me before I start this review is that I have insanely sensitive skin. I always have to tinker around with products to get the right amounts, usage times in a certain time frame, and what other products I can use with each other. Pacifica is no exception.
The First Use
When I got this Charcoal bubble mask in the mail, the first thing I did was open it up and use it. (After reading the bottle, of course.) The bottle recommends applying to a clean face, leaving for 10-20 minutes, and following up with some moisturizer. I wanted to go exactly according to the directions with my first use – because it’s obvious that it’s how they recommend the best results. And since the bottle stated it was for all skin types, I figure the moisturizing rule was a must.
I really wish I could have gotten a decent picture towards the end stages! It was too funny. The thing about good quality bubble masks is that the bubbles grow on your face; and it’s safe to say that I probably had a good inch or more of bubbles standing on my face.
Here’s what I gathered from the first use:
- The bubbles definitely tickle, but in a good way. I made the mistake of putting the mask under my nose (between my nostrils) and it tickled so much!!
- When the bubbles start to disappear most of the way, that’s when you know when it’s time to take the mask off. There really isn’t a set time. That’s why the bottle gives a 10 to 20 minute time frame.
- Moisturizing afterwards was KEY! I use coconut oil around my nose and under my eyes. As well as Pacifica’s Rose Flower Hydro Mist. (Review Coming Soon)
After my second use of it last night, I feel like a pro. This mask makes my face feel clean and refreshed. It definitely lives up to the “power your glow” listed on the label.
My skin fluctuates between oily and dry depending on weather, hormones, and just everyday tendencies. So I really feel like this mask caters to “all-types.” (Though, I’m no expert.)
I really want to rate it a full-blown five stars, but I also want to be 100% honest. For the amount given (1.7oz) the price is pretty steep at $16.00 (plus shipping). For this reason, I’ll be giving 4.25/5 stars.
I have really been slacking on my skin care routine for the past few weeks, and this mask helps me get back into the game. I love to take care of my skin, and I think I need to be reminded of how good and refreshing it feels. Masks are absolutely KEY to any great skin care routine – and I am so ecstatic to add this one to my collection.
Have you ever tried a Charcoal Mask before? If so, what brand did you use and what was the outcome?
