Being a vegan doesn’t have to mean boring old salads and green smoothies. In fact since trying vegan foods, I think I’ve only had one salad. So to that, I laugh. I hate when people don’t think there’s any diversity in trying new foods or lifestyles. My whole life, I’ve dedicated myself to trying that one café downtown that everyone is afraid to try. New things aren’t scary!
In my local grocery store, I found something spectacular. Something I’d like to share with you! Wait for it….Ben&Jerry’s Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert. That’s right, no dairy, all-delicious, ice cream!
I picked up two flavors and decided to leave you guys with reviews on both. SO without further ado, flavor number one:
Coconut Seven Layer Bar // 10/10 Choco Chunks
Serving size: 1/2 cup
OMG! This is the best out of the two flavors I’ve tried. The coconut isn’t overpowering and everything is distributed perfectly.
There’s chocolate chunks, caramel, graham cracker dust, and walnuts. All made with almond milk. If you like coconut, I highly recommend this.
And no, you can’t even tell that’s it’s not made with milk. It tastes exactly like ice cream! Hallelujah!
If you can’t eat nuts and/or don’t like walnuts, this is definitely not for you.
Chunky Monkey// 7/10 Bananas
Serving Size: 1/2 cup
I’m not kidding when I say this tastes exactly like banana bread. This is the perfect summer flavor. However, I rate it a 7/10 because my pint was way overpowered with walnuts. I’m not a huge fan, but I can tolerate a few.
Other than walnuts, this flavor has chocolate chunks. They’re not really sweet but they’re not bitter either.
Again, if you can’t have nuts and/or do not like walnuts, this flavor is not for you.
So there we have it. Non-Dairy Ice Cream isn’t bad at all. In fact, I love it! Have you tried any of these flavors? Have you tried other non-dairy ice cream brands? Let me know in the comments!
