Blogmas: Day Seven // My Christmas Traditions

Tradition – noun – the transmissions of customs or beliefs from generation to generation, or the fact of being passed on in this way.

My Christmas Traditions (1)

A Christmas tradition is something special to you or your family that you do every single year. I personally don’t have very many, but there are some I would like to do with my boyfriend, and in years to come if and when I decide to start a family.

Today I’d like to share the traditions I’ve done with my family (my mom, sister, and brother.)

how-the-grinch-stole-christmasThe first tradition is watching ‘How The Grinch Stole Christmas.’ Of course, the Jim Carrey version. I don’t really remember a year we didn’t watch this on Christmas Eve, and I’ll probably watch this movie every year until I die. This is personally one of my favorite movies of all time.

Bonus: Trey can literally recite this movie. So I don’t even have to worry about him not wanting to watch it! Hallelujah!

My next tradition is reading the birth of Jesus Christ. We do this because Christmas isn’t just about materialistic things, it’s about the birth of Jesus, what He did for us, and bringing family together. If you’d like to read this story, click here , and it’ll take you to an online Bible. If you have your own Bible at home and want to read the Christmas story, there are two different areas to find it in.

  • Luke 2: 1-20
  • Matthew 1: 18-25

If you have kids and would love to share the story in a simple version that they can understand, I encourage you to print this short story book. It’s FREE.

I’d also like to add a Christmas tradition I’ve been participating in. I didn’t want to include it at first because I didn’t think I was going to buy any this year. BUTTTT I ended up caving in. Without further ado, my next tradition is to buy Christmas jammies. This year I chose a cute shirt that says “Fa-La-La-La-Llama” and adorable leggings to go with it.

These are the only three Christmas traditions that I have currently, but I would love to adopt more! What are your traditions? Share them with me! Maybe I’ll borrow a few from you.
